In this tutorial we will learn how to create a seamless pattern, combining tools of the Phantasm CS plugin with the new Pattern creation feature in Adobe Illustrator CS6. Using these wonderful tools, you can create amazing genuine textile patterns prints.
In this tutorial I’ll use the photograph Red Rose (credit to deviantART user ~ Melissa-tm). Paste this image into the current document (File > Place…)
To create the textile print effect, we will use Phantasm CS‘ vector Halftone function. Go to Effect > Phantasm CS > Halftone… and set the parameters shown in the picture below.
Copy the Linked Image and paste it in front (Cmd / Ctrl + C; Cmd / Ctrl + F). Open the Appearance panel (Window > Appearance panel) and click on the effect’s entry.
Change the parameters of the Phantasm CS Halftone effect, as it is shown in the picture below.
Apply to the upper Linked Image the Darken blending mode in the Transparency panel.
Group up both Linked Images (Cmd / Ctrl + G).
