Today, flat design is undoubtedly one of the major trends in the world of design, many websites and applications perform a redesign of their products to match the latest trends.
An epidemic fascination with flat design, will most likely lead to the fact that the trend won’t last for very long. Even now, to somehow diversify and make the design more exciting many designers use additional and original techniques. One of these techniques is the application of long shadows, which look absolutely great on logos and icons. This idea was most likely borrowed from the world of photography. Photographers often use long shadows to create dramatic effects.
Long shadow design is based on plain forms and clear lines, as well as flat design. The color of the shadow itself is usually a bit darker shade of background. Most often, shadows are placed at 45 degrees angle. But there are also some examples of shadow arrangement at 120 degrees angle.
